The suitcase body should feature a steel frame, and the outer material is best if rain-resistant and textured (coarser grain), as this offers greater durability. Naturally, the wheels should also be recessed; while many suitcases boast four swiveling wheels, these are unsuitable for checked luggage because they protrude too much and are easily knocked off. The wheels themselves should be made of rubber to ensure quiet operation when rolling. Zippers are also crucial, though bigger isn't necessarily better-focus instead on the material quality and how smooth the zipper feels when operated. Ultimately, a suitcase is a straightforward item; other features-such as suit compartments or expandable sections-are largely a matter of personal preference.
